Yeah I guess so, why not. I'll get on it - it's not too much effort if people use it.

Did you ever look into it, dylan? Or did you think better of it because of the lack of posts?

The site has gotten a lot busier since bob originally asked. I think it would be well used now.

Hmm,  Live Chat eh? Reckon that'd be a good idea. You could borrow my old one if you wanted, but it's probably slower than hell with more than 5 people on it.

Anyhow, my old chat thingy is Here

If people like it it might encourage the Admins to put one on the forums, but they might want to go the whole-hog and Database-Merge with the forum so only registered members can use it, mine does not require registration. Can't say how reliable mine is either, IIS 6 isn't great at interpreting PhP and it overloads the CPU and goes BSOD occasionally, it won't cause the end user any problems beyond the chat window not updating, it's me that has to get up and hit buttons to fix it should that happen.

I don't mind sorting it out if people will definately use it. I didn't bother before as it went kinda quiet.

It's good of you to offer an ready made chat, HT, but as you already hinted, if it's going to be part of the Unofficial Karoo User Forum, It would be best to make members register and have admin/mods controlling it.

Just my view Smiley

I'm sure we have asked for this for years Smiley

Ajax Chat mod (Ajax so no refreshing page)

http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1319

Looks popular for smf, I would use that and set it up in shoutbox mode

No problem. The only thing slowing my down at the moment is the fact that the forum (having been upgraded umpteen times during the years) seems borked somewhere and won't install add ons anymore. Therefore I have to make a copy of it, fix the copy and then upload the changed version here (otherwise I'll end up breaking the live version and you'll put together a mob and burn me)  Undecided

Just need to get a couple of hours to do it in.

If someone wants to do my ironing tonight so I don't have to do it I could find the time (the missus is terrible at ironing)  Grin
