You can also test youtube streaming speed here http://www.youtube.com/my_speed My youtube streaming speed hovers around 500kbps (or just under half a megabit). My speedtest.net result at the mo is around 9Mbps.

My tests at 9:30PM must have been at the peak of demand then, but the Youtube graph shows a decline in speeds over the past month or so for people on Karoo.

The main thing is they have acknowledged that they are out of capacity to meet demand and are doing something about it. It would be nice to know what they are doing though, such as upgrading the LINX peering by adding another 1Gbit port, or upgrading to 10Gbit. Hope LonAP doesn't get left out Smiley

Lets see how it goes once the upgrades are done Smiley

It's averaged about 400kbps.

Why don't Karoo use these figures to compare their speeds!  Half the national average.

£30 a month for this rubbish, I am getting better on my three dongle FFS.
Karoo you had better sort this out quick as you are about to loose a customer for both broadband and phone, I am also reporting you to Ofcom as this is totally unnaceptable.

Just spoke to them and all he could say was that it was traffic shaping.

Hi, no we don't shape iPlayer or iPlayer HD, yes they require more bandwidth but as you say you shouldn't be having an issue. Could we recommend a call to our Tech Support team on 606101, they may be able to provide some additional information or help.

Many thanks

You say we are not traffic shaped but your tech guys say we are, make your minds up.

I imagine that response is because the rank and file people answering the tech support phone don't tend to be the most senior or knowledgable people at Karoo. In all likelyhood the way he told you is the only way he knows how to explain it (however wrong he is). I think the causes of buffering on youtube and iPlayer at the moment have been pretty much covered in this thread.

Unfortunately the knowledgable techies who were posting here have now gone quiet. I can only imagine they've been asked to stop posting and leave dealing with the great unwashed (aka us) to the customer services elite social media squad! Grin

I thought that the Pro service was not going to be traffic shaped, however it is heavily traffic shaped as can be seen, this is not good enough Karoo.
As can be seen between the two posts tonight your traffic shaping is getting beyond a joke.
Was there any football tonight I wonder?

i for one wont be upgrading from the old max pro until they, or anyone on this forum, confirm that iplayer and skyplayer will play perfectly well between 8pm and 10pm.

Hi guys

We are by no means ignoring your comments - we're going to investigate and get back to you.

Thanks
