I might be talking daft here, but if the peering interfaces are at capacity, and buying in extra transit is expensive, why doesn't KCOM just upgrade its peering interfaces? Dyls

Just tested again as every hour since 8pm.
So if I want to watch iplayer or utube without buffering, the conclusion is use it at midnight. Well worth top package I must say, thanks Karoo.....

are any Karoo packages capable of playing iplayer/utube/skyplayer between 6pm and 11pm without constant buffering?
Do BT/Virgin/sky have constant buffering on any of their packages too? if not, How do they cope with this demand?

Not being rude but friendlykcengineer has clearly stated: Hi All,
After discussion with our peering guru's it appears that there could be differences in speeds experienced by our customers during peak demand periods depending on the route taken from the national network into the Hull network. They are aware of this and have been using pre-pending to try and balance traffic to avoid pinch-points in recent weeks / months. They have also moved some traffic away from peering to transit (which is obviously more expensive) as part of these short-term measures. A long term solution has been in the planning stages for some time, and will be implemented in the next few weeks.
This could explain some of the different speeds you've been reporting, and the effects could appear pretty random across the network, but no particular area should be any worse affected than others.
Will post again when I get more info.
Cheers
FKCE
Maybe see how you feel after this?

FKCE, as and when you have more info on the upgrades, can you update the announcement on the Karoo site?

The thing that annoys me is that this is simply a basic service of any internet provider.
I've family in the caves' who have BT and a karoo line and the BT speed is 4MB no buffering etc with iplayer/utube et al and they are over a mile from the exchange oh and they pay less than a tenner a month for ADSL.
Its just .... frustrating!

Usually come close but with an extra 25GB for use between 8am-midnight and unmetered usage midnight-8am there's potential to download a lot Overnight it wouldn't be hard to pull down 30-40GB to be honest...

Maybe see how you feel after this? We're paying for the service now though, and have been all the time we have had these problems. Karoo have either: - Not forecasted demand propery
- Realised the future demand outweighs capacity, but not done anything about it
- Realised the future damand outweights capacity, and spent months and months planning, and not doing
Somehow, I don't see how much planning it needs - buy/increase capacity! And stop taking customer's money for a service that is not being provided!

Again, just for reference sake: Around 7:50PM The London (speedtest.net) and Mybroadbandspeed.co.uk speedtests appear to be from providers using LoNAP peering. It is likely the Manchester (speedtest.net) is from a provider using ManAP peering.
