Hi All,

Just to keep you in the loop, the FUP enforcement for the Max Options 1 to 4 is being staggered. Options 2 to 4 have been done and the usage graphs should show peak and off-peak usage. Option 1 is scheduled for 15th March. Peak / off-peak graphs for Pro are in the pipeline but we don't have a firm date as yet.

Cheers

Ahh ok, makes sense then cheers.

One question I would ask though, is it really a FUP anymore when the whole "Fair Use Policy" implies it would be enforced IF users abuse it, over time, but if you are enforcing it month by month then surely Max is no longer "Unlimited" with a FUP but is actually a restricted service.

It was never originally marketed as that, it was marketed as "Unlimited" with a FUP, so have the terms and conditions been changed?

I wonder if legally this is all squeaky clean......

Hi Stormy,

The FUP was published when the Max products were launched:-

http://www.karoo.co.uk/products/broadband/tools/karoo-max-fair-usage-policy.aspx

This clearly states the peak time download limits, so there has been no change to the terms and conditions.

The 'Unlimited' designation means that there is no overall limit to what you can download in a month, and this is still the case.
If a Max customer is used to downloading at full line rate 24/7, then they will obviously not be able to download as much in a month as they used to, but I would argue that the FUP is indeed 'fair' in such cases, as other customers should see their download speeds improve when the FUP restrictions kick in for the 'bandwidth hogs'.

Cheers

Fair point, out of interest what portion of users are still on Max compared to the newer packages?

I don't think I download much at peak times as it is at the moment, but I don't mind changing my habits if they need changing, and hope that this will bring some benefit to peak time usage for everyone or allow me to use iplayer the odd time in an evening if I need to.

In other words, the weak and useless Ofcom let ISPs advertise one thing and provide another.  These services are clearly limited based on the amount you pay each month, why should somebody who opts for a slower speed (Max Option 1) receive a lesser fair usage than somebody who opter for a faster speed (Max Option 4).  These fair usages are just limits, therefore it's not an unlimited services.

I gave up trying.  Paying Karoo for this crap, and at the same time, not getting the full benefit of the TV Licence fee or Sky subscription as cannot use their online services. Angry

If you mean the same wireless channel as you then yes it will. Try and move as far away as you can (in number) from the occupied channels.
