We are pleased to tell you that following extensive review of your feedback and ideas, we are set to re-launch our range of Karoo broadband packages in late February to better meet your internet needs.

From Monday 22 February, you will be able to choose from six high speed broadband packages providing a wider range of price and usage choices.

Not only have we increased the usage allowances on our existing Lite, Mid and Pro packages at no additional cost to customers, we are also introducing three new options to help bridge the gap between our most popular packages, Mid and Pro.

The new range looks like this:

Karoo Lite – increased from 2GB to 5GB per month
Karoo Mid 1 – increased from 10GB to 20GB per month
NEW Karoo Mid 2 – 30GB per month
NEW Karoo Mid 3 – 50GB per month
Karoo Pro 1 – increased from 75GB to 100GB per month including unlimited overnight usage
NEW Karoo Pro 2 – 150GB per month including unlimited overnight usage

We’ve recognised that the way in which we use the internet has changed dramatically in recent years and we hope these changes better reflect the different demands from our customers.

You can register for the new packages now – simply complete our web form at www.karoo.co.uk/upgrade  and our Customer Services team will contact you shortly after the new packages are available after 22 February.

Thanks
Karoo

The prices for the services are still very high, if I was on a BT LLU line I could have upto 24meg, 40gb per month, line rental and unlimited UK calls for £19.99 per month.

You can't compare Karoo to an LLU provider though, would be much better comparing to IPstream.

Karoo will never be able to compete with the likes of Sky or Talktalk, the companies are far to big and Sky for instance has the high prices for its satellite tv to offset the money they undoubtedly lose from the cheap broadband.

Several of the better IPstream providers (only looking at the max products)

http://www.idnet.net/solutions/home/broadband/default-adsl.jsp

Peak is 9am - midnight

Home PAYG - Peak 2GB - Off-Peak 10GB = £14.99
Home Lite - Peak 10GB - Off-Peak 30GB = £17.99
Home Max - Peak 30GB - Off-Peak 60GB = £24.99
Home Supermax - Peak 40GB - Off-Peak 140GB = £34.99

http://www.ukfsn.org/home/internet/adsl/

Peak allowances (mon-friday 8am - midnight)

Allowance 1GB = £13.95
Allowance 3GB = £15.95
Allowance 30GB = £18.95
Allowance 60GB = £28.95
Allowance 90GB = £38.95
Allowance 120GB = £48.90

http://adsl24.co.uk/broadband/?showall=yes

(Adsl24 21CN Adsl2+ only)
People have been having problems with Entanet with regard to speed for a while though, duno if its sorted at all yet.
Peak is mon-friday 8am - midnight

Home 1 - Peak 1GB = £14.20
Home 3 - Peak 3GB = £16.20
Home 30 - Peak 30GB = £19.20
Home 60 - Peak 60GB = £29.20
Home 90 - Peak 90GB = £39.20

I'd say Karoo is pretty competitive on price.

I would love to see KCOM move towards Fibre - this looks very tasty...

I guess with the growing use of combined services we SHOULD compare the price of all three services, Phone Broadband and TV. Just because KC don't offer the service does not mean we should suffer, which we do!

You can't compare Karoo to an LLU provider though, would be much better comparing to IPstream.

KC compare themselves with Sky, Talk Talk and BT http://www.karoo.co.uk/products/kctalk/competitor-comparison.aspx

That's just comparing the call packages on there own.

I agree we do miss out on better deals from bundled deals, especially from Sky or cheaper broadband from o2 if your a mobile customer. All that Karoo could bundle would be calls and broadband though doubt we would see barely any better value.

Never having tried BT or sky broadband i couldnt comment on how good they are compared to KCOM, but what does infuriate me is that i get very poor performance on my broadband (max 2) every evening, and i could get that same level of performance (or possibly better) for free due to my SKY package, and free telephone calls to boot!  I'm not too bothered if the new packages are slightly cheaper or slightly more expensive, i need broadband.  However, i would prefer it to be free as part of TV package that i already pay for Smiley.

Its time we got the local government to realise the people of this town need to be able to choose BB provider, how much money do you think we would need to be invested in the infrastructure to allow other operators to offer BB without a huge investment themselves?

I have the ear of nearly 500 local people who could help lobby the local government to help. but we need a plan!

I think pretty much that no one is bothered at the government or OFCOM, we are small fish in this town.  The council/schools are not bothered as they have their own broadband links not via KC (ithink).  In my naive opinion the only way to solve the issue is for everyone in hull to cancel broadband with KC and sacrifice a month or two of web access, i would do it, but many wouldn't.  Other than that we should block every main road and ferry port in and out of hull until its sorted.  French style (!)  I'm available every other thursday, and i could probably get some sheep for good effect.  Or we could wait until 4g!

Every main road in and out of Hull is already blocked, it's called Castle Street junction!  Grin

I can usually pull full speeds midnight up until 6PM, then it goes downhill pretty badly, up until a few weeks ago there didn't appear to be a problem with peak speeds.

Karoo?
