Seems basically the FUP has been scrapped now from the ISP side, it still however applies to the user of course.

I wonder what exactly IS a heavy user these days? 5Gb? 10Gb? 30Gb? 50Gb? 150Gb? I guess even if you paid for Karoo Pro you aint allowed to use it. Wink

Will the heavy user even be told this or does it mean I am a heavy user because my speeds at these times are abysmal? I have download about 1.7Gb Peak and 11Gb off peak this month, I guess that's a heavy user then. God help you boys on pro you must be VERY heavy users.

9.6 We continuously monitor network performance and may reduce the speed available to
very heavy users to ensure that the service received by other customers is not impacted
through the very heavy usage of a minority of customers. If You are classified as a very
heavy user You may experience significantly reduced speed at peek times (typically 5:00 pm
to midnight every day). These restriction will continue for a period of 30 days, or for so long
as Your heavy usage continues. This restriction applies in addition to the restrictions set out
in the Fair Usage Policy and applies to customers on all Karoo products.

Noticed the terms were changing earlier while I was looking for something on the Karoo site,

I find it rather unclear if it means heavy usage at main network peak time (5pm to midnight) will result in traffic shaping or rather if you are a heavy overnight user will you also suffer at peak time?

The other one needs re-reading a number of times as well. Rapidshare, Usenet ??

9.2  You must  not  use  any  applications  or  additional  services  that We  provide  for  use  in
conjunction  with  the  Service  (including  in  particular  any  online  backup  service)  for  the
purpose of file sharing with other Internet users.

The online backup services refers to http://www.humyo.com/Pages/Humyo/Signup/Karoo.htm

The article on the karoo page at http://www.karoo.co.uk/CmsArticle.aspx?ID=201 doesn't seem to exist anymore. Found it on twitter and facebook though.

I see that the gb downloaded page in account info has been updated.

Important information
Please refer to the usage meter below to see how much usage you have used throughout the month - in both peak (6pm until midnight) and off-peak periods. Don't forget - once you have exceeded your monthly fair usage allowance during peak times only - your broadband speed will be restricted between 6pm and midnight until the start of the next calendar month.

It looks like I have a 20gb peak period monthly limit and unlimited out-of-hours.

Karoo pro 1 still says

Important information - additional usage charges
Please refer to the usage meter below to keep a track on how much you have used in your current usage period. Don't forget once you have exceeded your monthly usage allowance additional charges will be added to your next monthly Karoo bill. We will remind you via email.

Offtopic, outrageous that they charge £1 for an additional GB - must make a nice profit from that.

Are you sure? Para 9.6 says that if they consider anyone a heavy user regardless of FUP (it clearly states its in addition to the FUP) then they can cripple you.

So as I am crippled during peak times I assume that 10Gb off peak usage is 'heavy' until Karoo say otherwise.

how can any 1 be a heavy user on these poor speeds lol

I guess if you download a lot off peak you are cosidered a heavy user and then get crippled speeds peak time, seems to be whats happened to me (or should I say EVERYONE on Max?).
