Exactly the same situation as me.. I hardly made a call from landline due to having mobile contract.. Yet i'm also charged £11.99 a month.

Its got to be the easiest money KC ever make, I mean they don't actually have to do anything with respect to my line. I just wish there was a "line only" option or sth, for the broadband. It just seems rediculous to me that I have to pay so much money for something that is purely there for my broadband connection.

Sorry to stick my nose in this thread but that's exactly why I wanted to be away from KC/Karoo. My bills with them were the same even though we hardly use our land line.

This month VoIP has cost me 63p, That's = to £1.89 a quarter.

Unfortunately I am not that keen on Airnet as the pings are much worse than my Karoo conection but, yes I can see the cost benefit indeed is very nice.

Although saying that, are you guys on a better deal or something as the leaflet I saw for Airnet was, Installation £149.99, Broadband £24.99/month and VoIP from £4.99/month?

When I was with KC I was on the basic package paying around £12 or 13 a month because I also paid for caller display.

When I was with Karoo I was on the Pro 2 package paying £29.99 a month

I signed up for Airnet while they had an offer on. Installation cost me £100 and (usually £149) and pay £21.99 a month for the first year (usually £24.99).

I use Connexin as my VoIP service provider. They offer a pay as you go package. It costs a one off free of £5+VAT to sign up (This also gives you a local phone number). You then just top it up as you would a pay as you go mobile phone. Calls to normal landline numbers costs 1.5p a minute and calls to mobiles costs 10p a minute.

I understand where you're coming from regarding the pings but luckily Ace and myself have good connections with low enough pings so as not to affect online gaming.

Yep ditto all that same for me..except I'm "USING" Airnet VOiP service and that's £8 per month... Roll Eyes I say "USING" but in fact it's not working well at all, have emailed Tricky who said he will sort it.... Wink but I think I'll write feckoff on it and go with Connexin... Cool

Well maybe when Karoo bring out these broadband packages, we might all be a bit better off. When you work it out, £16.99 for broadband then 10.50 a month for your phone, comes to around 27.50 a month, then you've got calls and vat to add on, so hopefully the packages they plan to bring out will be considerably cheaper than that. If not I'll just wait till another company comes in and se what they have to offer  Undecided

Yeah, apart from the terrible internet service I received from KC, the telephone charges I always though were a bit of a rip off to be honest, although perhaps if you use the land line a lot it may not be to bad, I don't know?
For me one thing I could never understand was the charge for the ''Instrument Rental'' I never had a telephone actually supplied by them''
Do they still provide telephones like they used to? I always remember my parent getting new style phones on occasions...  Smiley from those you put your finger in the hole and dial the number to push button ones.. Grin

All providers charge a line rental for broadband apart from virgin's fibre bb.

Most of the main stream providers sky, bt, talktalk are all passing the £12 a month mark.

Nothing you can do if you want broadband im afraid. :-(

I do laugh when folk moan about line rental, everyone pays it, at around £11, KC line rental isn't bad.
