Following on from the press release...

Quote
Kingston Communications has announced an exclusive package for its Karoo customers in the East Yorkshire area, stating that these customers will be able to benefit from a budge broadband package that will cost just £4.99 per month for the first three months and just £5.99 per month thereafter. This is a twelve month contract and is due to launch at the start of December.

An official from Kingston Communications said that the deal was aimed at helping bring the region out of recession by making broadband more accessible and affordable, since broadband access is seen as a real driver when it comes to the economy. The launch of the package was sparked by concerns over rising unemployment in the region.

One official from the communication firm added: “We’ve been quite heavily involved in the Mail’s Bounce Back campaign so we’re acutely aware there are a lot of people out there who need work and we thought, how can we support them and help. As a local business we want people to have Internet skills and we want people to get back to work. The region’s success is our success.”

"An Early Termination Fee, being equal to the fees payable for the remainder of the minimum contract term, will be chargeable if you terminate your broadband service during the minimum contract term."

What? That can't be right? That's like moving out from a rental house and still being made to pay the rent because the rental period is 12 months.  How can they justify that?!

Mind you that said I think all ther "legal stuff" for that stinks. Meh. Not worth the hassle if you ask me :|

I think the "early termination fee" is justified. It is the same as taking out any other min term agreement, ie Sky TV, Mobile etc. By signing up you a agree to a minium term, if you want to exit the agreement early you have to pay the balance of your remaining monthly payments upto the end of the minium term.

It's like that on all their broadband packages isn't it? If you're in a 12 month term and want out they charge you for the remainder?

Just tell them your going to sell your broadband to your neighbour Smiley

They will cut you off and cancel your contract.  They can't demand you pay the full length if they are not prepared to offer the service.
