Just as I were dissmissing this whole mobile point thing ,contact was made to say next thursday is the day .
BUT I will be getting a call from the installations team to confirm this .

Not having a call from installations ,I rang again was told the guy dealing with me was unavailable ,will liase with him and ring me back in 30-60 mins.  got a call back to say he is in a meeting but will ring me within 2 hours .
that was yesterday .I am still waiting !
I now see that the installation has more than doubled to £295 from £125 .

I am now thinking that Karoo pro looks attractive at 11 months up front for 12 months

Any comments forum  friends ?

I'd have to agree, for any household to fork out just under £300 to get broadband is ridiculous, just shows you wireless is not comparable to fixed line data comms

I can only think this company does not want the business, or it cant be arsed to deal with consumers.

Supposed to be survey and installation day today however after no contact yet again and after a morning of deliberation, I have now signed back up to Karoo, taking the pro package,

I based my decision not to get the service from mobile point on the following.

Totally crap customer service

Forever escalating costs

No one seems to have the service installed and no feed back from any private household what so ever.

My opinion of mobile point is that they don’t really want to get involved with residential customers, but mess them around until they get fed up and not bother.

Unless some one out there not connected to the organisation can tell me otherwise.

Hmm how shall I say this.

DO NOT SIGN TO THIS SERVICE  Angry

I have had nothing but trouble with the Mobile Point,  as you all well aware my location was inspected and given the all-clear for service. Thou a problem arose which was that they never came back to finish the job Roll Eyes, I have been waiting over 4 weeks now with no reply.

And I have just noticed recently that the price has increased to 300 pounds for installment and weirdly enough the last statement they said to me is that nothing will be charged until the installation is complete, HOW STRANGE Tongue. So I sincerely regret for any trouble that these people may have caused, I didn't know anything about the company at the time but it was an new ISP for residential customers in Hull and I had to say something about it.

So it looks like I am back on Karoo Max once again, waiting for the day that a new ISP comes about to bring competition for Kingston Communications.

Cmon 02 release 4G already.

Has anyone got this service from the mobile point. It seams that hipe and disregard of normal buisness has pissed off everyone again.
Tumble weed and a foul smell comes from this over inflated and free advertiseing from HDM.

Just as a test I have had 3 friends contact mobile point ,over the last 2 weeks ,only one had a call back that aws to say that the installations team are flat out for the next 2-3 weeks and would be called back in a coiple of weeks to arrange a survey.
the other 2 have chased but got no further than promises of a call back that never came.

I am now more convinced that there are no private houses /individuals with this service and that the companys policy is to dodge customers that ring up any which way they can.

They've had to double it to cover the cost of all their sponsorship and advertising

Having read a number of comments on the forum we can see that we have to improve the customer service side of this product and project.

The Broadband product is a specialist service and currently supplies a large number of businesses in the Hull Area, our Aim is to be able to offer an alternative and the installation charge needed to be increased to cover the engineering time and hardware required.

It is not a 'cheap' alternative to Karoo, it is a different type of service, there is also no need for any phone line.

We have gained valuable experience over the last few months with regard to the residential market and requirements and I will be more than happy to discuss any outstanding issues people may have.

Again, this is a business product which we have tried to develop for the residential market.

Apologies for anyone who has not had calls returned and I can assure you that we will look into this and improve as far as possible.

Hi D Sunley

Is it D for Dan ?
I wonder if you would mind posting just how many none business customers you have actually connected since you advertised this service,
Just a matter of  interest from a customer that got the run around from your company last year, !

Oh well! not much luck  Embarrassed , my house has no current line of site to a trasmitter. have to wait until there is one.

they really did have a good look though!!!

it is good to see they have a roof ladder then go and spoil it by doing something as stupid as standing on a chimney stack. It would appear that there is a need to spend some of the extra installation charges on a working at heights/health and safety course.  Chimney stacks are notoriously unsafe, particularly  older properties!

So this is a bust then?

Bollocks. I'm still stuck on the Karoo 2mb unlimited package, and refuse to upgrade considering every single other ISP on a BT line offers some sort of unlimited usage with their ADSL+2 packages!

Not that it matters too much though, it doesn’t seem to cover Beverley at all. I’m shocked at the response to potential customers, especially as this is the very audience who should be actively chased.
