As far as I'm aware, its all just a one-man-band thing - was he called Steve?

Two guys came to survey at mine and they spoke to a Managing Director called Martin over the phone who has a team, dont think its a one man band.

Right then I am going to be the guinnie pig will ring and sort survey dont like the idea of a £120 install though so will try and pin them to £0 or a low fixed price,
I want it for streaming media so as long as its good enough for that I will be happy,If not then I guess its a battle for ending the contract early.

Their website has now been changed to state £125 fixed installation cost ,also after a chat with them I am led to believe that a standard wireless adsl modem/gateway will not work ,so would not be able to use my linksys one left from my karoo days so that would add another £40-£50 to the cost.
I asked a few questions regarding backhaul & guarenteed latency awaiting a call back .
Will keep you posted.

Question for hullnet

What attracted you to their service ? do you think it should be quick enough or/and better than karoo's.

It was the ability to get rid of the phone line, and serve a website in my DMZ, its a forum. I'm currently paying £5 a month for 5 SQL databases, but I could drop that to two for around £3.99

total saving would be (£12 for phone line and £4 for web space) £16 * 8 months = 128, recoup the install then save £18 a month.

So it was money really, but also supporting anyone who is willing to take on KC for broadband regardless of technology!

I did ask this question, well kind of
I asked would it be suitable for online gaming such as PS3, they answered Yes that would work fine.
I asked would streaming media via BBCi player or any other on-line source work OK and they answered yes.

I guess you need to ask about throttling during peak times to see what affect it would have.

I didn't get anything in writing which might be prudent if it does not deliver, or un-installation costs should you not be happy.

The main point of getting this is to get away from throttlling and constant buffering with media streams.I cancelled karoo because of this and terminated an un capped contract,I dont want to sign up to something that is going to give me the same.
I am currently using a 3 mobile dongle and to be truthfull its improved over the 14 months I have used it,the only isue is the usage cap

actually if it is wireless (which it is) it will be awful for gaming.... that is the nature of wireless. You'll just get the worst packet loss
