bashdabish, I see exactly where you are coming from: a position of ignorance. Have you ever heard of due process, or the rule of law? I know nothing about the Hull City hooligan that you refer to. However, I can be sure that he got a fair trial, in a COURT OF LAW, in which prosecutors had to present EVIDENCE of his involvement in criminal activity, and that he had the chance to CONTEST said evidence. That is UTTERLY DIFFERENT from what Karoo was doing. Karoo was severing people's internet connections, WITHOUT WARNING, based on UNPROVEN accusations, and gave the accursed NO OPPORTUNITY TO CONTEST these accusations. Those accused of copyright infringement had only one option: to plead guilty. Even now, with Karoo's new policy, there is still no way for a user accused of downloading copyright material to contest the claims. And, since Karoo has a monopoly on home broadband, the user has nowhere else to go.
I'm glad I don't live in the Karoo operating area. I do not fileshare. I do not use wireless internet at home. I changed the admin password on my (wired) router from the default. I switch my router off whenever I leave my flat. I live alone. But I would leave my ISP instantly if it were to adopt the kind of policy that Karoo does, even the new 3-strikes-and-you're-out one. This is because incorrect accusations are perfectly possible: for example, ISPs might not match IP addresses to users correctly, and anyway IP addresses can be spoofed. In other words, I am concerned that I would be wrongly accused of illegal filesharing, and thus have my connection unjustly cut off.
What Karoo is doing amounts to private justice: of one citizen punishing another. That is completely unacceptable in a society based on the rule of law. Only a court of law should have the power to decide whether someone is guilty of illegal activity, and only a court of law should have the power to hand out punishment. Honest law-abiding citizens should be able to expect to be treated as innocent until proven guilty. That should apply for file sharing over the Internet as much as for football hooliganism.

I am not a hooligan nor do I file share .I cancelled my Karoo account 16 months ago because I got cut off I cancelled the dd and then got threatening letters off them saying that I had to give a months notice to cancel my contract. as it was karoo that terminated my connection and not me I refused to pay, the next letter then threatend to terminate my phone line .
This is near like when the Krays ran london all that time ago so the hooligans in this case are karoo !!!!!
