Why does adsl2 mean bonded adsl has to be available to businesses?

Dear all

There is no chance of getting ADSL2 in Hull from KCOM since it means that KCOM will have to offer bonded ADSL services to businesses which will conflict with there massively expensive leased line service revenues.

Project Novo

KC offering ADSL2 services does NOT AT ALL mean they have to offer bonded ADSL serices to businsses.

How can it?

They don't even have to offer businesses ADSL2...

FWIW ADSL2 will be available within coming months...

im surprised they don't offer bonded adsl already! surely it is another revenue stream, but if they were to offer bonded adsl they would price it to reflect their current product lineup surely? that is, bandwidth/bandwidth similarily as expensive as leased lines? or perhaps they will drop their prices? hard to speculate!

not sure why this would effect adsl2 roll out though? elaborate! unless you are referring to "business broadband" or SDSL. guess adsl2 would impact these, though ive no confidence in being given the "full" 1.5mb upload with adsl2 as a consumer. one would speculate they will simply roll their business adsl services over to adsl2? i think you can get 3mb up with adsl2 if you sacrifice download speed. besides this most businesses go with packages for support/reliablity/contention/etc not solely speed?

I also doubt we will see the upload speed with ADSL2+ used to its potential Wink unless they just say upto this and upto that and you get the best your line and modem support.

I saw one line from a KC guy trialling ADSL2+ and he was only getting ~6.5Mbit down and 832Kbit up...

Yeah but once its public it will get slower just like MAX did, there was a time when you where lucky to get above 50KB on anything using max.

Pray tell me what is the use of more speed if the network is struggling now with the existing speeds. Have Krapoo got more bandwith hidden away somwhere just for ADSL2, I very much doubt it somehow.

They have plenty of spare bandwidth and capacity, but only some of it is used for MAX and the other packages, hence the words "up to" on the blurb...
