The page originally stated the packages were for new signups but that reference has spookily been removed.  I would expect (and hope) we can continue with the old packages as we could when MAX was shovelled into the open.

I wouldn't put it past Karoo to force us onto them, and that would really save them a small fortune with such drastic limits!

You lot are never gonna be happy, if these were the packages that entanet offer if/when they come into Hull you'd be lapping it up, looks like KC have actually listened to what people want, but yet your still moaning.

Does that mean you're moving over mate  Wink

But seriously - the packages aren't of the same value as those offered by entanet are they?

Personally I won't be moving, but thats cause I'm happy with my option 2 package, it serves its purpose, traffic shaping has never been an issue for me as I don't use news groups, on rare occasion I use torrents but don't have any demand for them during peak hours. All in all I don't hold any beef with karoo, the speeds offered to me have always been fine, I've never had a reason to complain. My original point was, that it seems people will find any reason(justified or not)  to moan about KC/Karoo and from these new packages it looks like they've started to listen to what people want, but yet still people are soon to put em down.

True without competition they are easy targets, I too have little to complain about I'm happy with my speeds, happy with my connection and have never called the customer service or helpdesk (I work in IT support, but still!) But then I pay for the privilege £30 a month for just for internet!

Competition does one thing and one thing only drive for performance and services while keep the cost down, something KC has never had to do.

Why the hell should I be happy if the new packages that Kcom offer are no better than the previous ones ?  If you're happy with your connection because you barely use it then that's great, I'm very pleased for you. The fact is very few of us asked for the  removal of traffic shaping entirely as we know realistically Kcom can't provide a 24/7 upto 8mb service - we asked for BETTER planned and more reasonable bandwidth shaping and a service that wasn't crippled entirely for people at the time when they needed it most.

As for Entanent, well they have the disadvantage of existing in the real world with competition and customers that can walk so they're never likely to offer the wonderful deals we are given by Karoo.

I agree completely with hullnet and until competition arrives, we just aren't gonna know for sure whether we're just a hardcore bunch of complainers or, as the petition would seem to imply, the tip of a very large iceberg.

garbage..   but  to be expected. Karoo giveth and karoo taketh away..  Smiley     nothing will change with Karoo until there is competition in the area, the sooner the better....

I'll stick to my ancient 1.5meg connection thanks..  providing they let me, I guess it's only a matter of time before they try to force me over to something different. But then again they might be happy with taking my £25 for 1.5meg..

£70 for a netgear DG834G too who are they trying to kid?    you can get a DG834PN for that!!

http://karoo.co.uk/broadband/
A few changes have been made already, like free set up on the Mid / Pro versions, however reading the small print it still looks like they expect us to tie into a 12/18 month contract.
Also they still reserve the right to screw us on speed  "Broadband speeds are affected by line length, quality and peak internet usage periods and will range from 160Kbps to a maximum of 8000Kbps. P2P and Usenet traffic may be restricted at busy times."
I don't see anything on there to say that they have listened to anyone.

Quote
Kevin Walsh, executive director of Kcom, said customer feedback had identified speed as of paramount importance to the packages they choose.

He said "Our new Karoo services give customers faster speeds at all levels.

I'll believe that when I see it.

I see the HDM is a accurate as KC

Package two, Karoo Mid, is a 12-month deal that offers customers a 10MB download limit for £16.99 per month.

I just noticed that - so they're saying speeds can be as low as 16KBps (very roughy speaking) - and they STILL will restrict downloads whenever they feel like it.

Cry Its my first post on this forum.  I just can't believe Karoo.  10gb limit unless you want to pay £29.99 a month (bye bye unlimited usage).  Sorry......... how are these packages better?

Although it would be cutting my nose off, I'm thinking of sacking off the whole Karoo debacle!

I didn't think they could get any worse, turns out I was as wrong as they are!

My empathy
