After my leaflet drop last night, I have 42 confirmed names and addresses on the site. I'll keep going till I reach at least 1000!  Tongue

hi i e mailed virgin media quite a while back and got this reply back

Hi Justin,

Thank for your email received on 25 March 2008 about ISP suppliers in Hull.

I am sorry that we are not able to provide Virgin Media services in Hull. We currently have large areas of the UK cabled, however there are still some areas such as Hull where we have not laid cabling.

Because we still have areas in our current network that are not subscribed to, at full capacity. At this time we have no plans to extend our network.

We are however still able to provide Virgin broadband services to non-cabled areas, through our Virgin.Net broadband service. If you already have or are able to a British Telecom landline, we can provide you with Virgin.Net broadband services.

For more details on how please check the link below or call Virgin. Net’s customer care team on 0870 013 0070.

Thank you for taking the time to email us. I appreciate the detail of your email and will pass your feedback on within our company.

i did not however point them to this site or explain the situation here so i just think they are not allowed in hull.

Hi Justin,

Unfortunately half the time when writing to ISP's you're likely to get passed to some customer service numpty who simply responds from a script. We've tried writing to quite a few ISP's ourselves but it's very hard to get any common sense out of them.

There are a couple of people here who've volunteered for the "Karoo Forum Ambassador" project. We're working our way through a list of ISP's, sending them a standard email and waiting for replies.

It's thankless work, but at least it's doing something! Unfortunately we don't get to write to as many people as we like because people are busy. We keep plodding on though lol!

Of course they'll be allowed in, it'll just be the same reason that all the providers give, not commercially viable blah blah blah etc.

Well I've been campaining for about 3 weeks and have nearly got 10% of my target 1000 interested people of that 10%, 3% are new sky customers, 7% existing sky customers.

I'm happy with the ratio, this would bring 300 new customers to sky, hopfully they wont be able to ignore that.  Wink

I'll keep going..... www.hullnet.co.uk

@ Hullnet

It seems you have limited people signing up thru email address, my wife has signed up, she dont use computers much so she used my email address, i cant now sign up as email address is in use.

Won't that stop alot of people signing up?

Just thought i would share that with you

Thanks, this is not a petition but actual potential customers as each household can be one customer i've added some IP verification that prevents individuals of one household signing-up.

Hope you get what I'm saying  Huh?

Cheers Al..
