From April the first K COM - Kingston Communications are launching there new packages - The prices will be lower but at a cost, There will be limits, 2GB on one package the catch is; No traffic shaping, Full 8meg all day and night, But as soon as you go over your limit you will have to pay KC For ever GB you use.
Furthermore , Around March ADSL2 Will be added in to KC's Network to allow 'up to' 24 Mbs Connection speeds , The ACTUAL Launch date for Customers Will be around September, KC staff are currently trialling the service.

Hi, there - that's interesting. Do you have a link or something from where you got the info from?
2GB seems a bit tight! How about a sensible limit without shaping for a similar price to option 3 or 4? Limiting usage to 2GB seems to make removing the bandwidth shaping pointless....
As for the ADSL2, I thought that KC only have ADSL1 capable DSLAMs in their exchanges?

Yeh I heard something similar regarding the new packages, although we are still not 100% sure if traffic shaping will be disabled or just reduced, my bet is reduced.
No idea on the full range of packages, I guess they will be up on some website on the 1st of April, lol..

The Packages will be on the website from April the 1st, The traffic shaping is been removed , ADSL2+ DSLAMS Are been intergrated into the exchanges, KC staff are trialling ADSL2 At the minute The packages are on limits because KCOM cant afford the backhaul for everyone downloading 8meg constantly, It would cost around £100 a month for a package like this. Any questions post back.

Any information on the prices? how much usage allowance each package will have? Any extra features other than email/webspace such as multiple IPs? Any packages with higher upload speeds? cheers

I think we have already discussed these packages before, guess Krapoo is listening to us and steeling our ideas as their own K-shite should provide the agreed speeds all the time, not traffic shape to reduce their overheads. Get rid of the ridicules concept all price plans are 8mb, it simply disappoints the end users. Guarantee the following speeds, until you reach the download cap, after that point traffic shape down to 512kbs. People will know what performance to expect, if they want a higher download limit they can pay the extra.
£14.99 2mb 30 gb/month £19.99 4mb 40 gb/month £24.99 6mb 50 gb/month £29.99 8mb Unlimited
If K-shites current infrastructure cannot support the above scheme then they should upgrade to accommodate these levels of bandwidth instead of investing in new markets.

2GB seems a bit tight! How about a sensible limit without shaping for a similar price to option 3 or 4? Limiting usage to 2GB seems to make removing the bandwidth shaping pointless.... Launched as ADSL1, it's difficult to spot-the-difference with Karoo Starter Max. I presume the difference is that whereas Starter Max has "downloads capped at 2GB per month usage with [the highest] priority...for bandwidth performance available at the time of usage", these new packages bypass their bandwidth-management algorithm and its port-shaping. We'll have to wait and see. There will always be contention for the "biggest individual share of the available bandwidth" and omitting this could be miss-selling, so I presume these packages test how their backhaul would contend with ADSL2 or changes in the EC market per the US bearpit on Comcast's traffic-shaping. Edit: The Phorm saga could put pressure on EC rules, which OFCOM seem to defer to.
