Well if its true that Karoo are trying to 'force' people off the old Max services and onto the newer (low monthly usage, low connection speeds or extortionate rates) packages it will backfire on them. For starters they have lost me who will be chosing one of the wireless broadband providers that offer a hell of alot more for a fraction of the cost!

Agreed, they will lose me too. I refuse to be blackmailed into paying over the odds for a service that works properly, especially with Karoos propaganda that 8Mbps ADSL was not designed to stream video, and will only deteriorate further with time.  Just going to have a wait a while till an alternative comes to Brough.

All of this could be solved with extra bandwidth being made available...

It doesn't work properly on pro either. They still throttle back to what they think is fair at peak times while still charging top dollar. I'm sick of paying 30 quid a month for 3meg at peak times. Peak times are when I'm not working and when I'm not tucked up in bed. Karoo's days of taking the p*** are coming to an end and I'm enjoying every minute reading all the updates on what other services have to offer.  Smiley

I imagine existing karoo members will start seeing an increase in peak time speed due to karoo either finally increasing available bandwidth or more bandwidth becoming available due to less demand from our migrating friends.

Here's pro at 2am. Bizarrely I sync at 12/13Mbps so it seems that I'm still not maxing out my line now.

11 meg throughput is all you'll see with 13meg sync speed, due to overheads.

Not for me off peak, off peak is usually fine. I can get full speed generally from my 8Mb sync, tested a bit torrent file this morning and it saturated my connection at 800Kb/s.

To be honest, I have actually managed to use iPlayer at peak times the last few days but its rare and youtube is still as awful as ever at peak times. Torrents I expect to be slow at peak times.

Hello to all fellow Karoo users - this is my first post. Guess we're all in the same sinking boat eh? lol

Having a good day today;

I've had it go slower, but often it will go faster than that;

I think I probably have one of the faster connections, but I have applied for NextGenUs, because hosting a website/telnet/gopher on Karoo just aint very good at all really.

I hope I am welcome at these forums, should be fun participating in the discussions here.

Regardless of the connection I wouldn't use a home connection for hosting sites of any importance. Welcome to the forum though, it's great to see new users joining up.

Hence the reason I am kicking these into touch. This is the best I have ever acheived from karoo and that does not take into account there shaping.

Why is my ping time so high?

Umm... I know this thread is rather old, but I am at my mother's house trying to watch stuff on youtube and this is happening;

Seriously, this service is such a bad joke.

And while I am here, who the hell keeps smiting me? At least have a good reason for it.
