Only been on the site for a few days but cant help wondering why there are always around 20 /30 guests viewing the site but not a great deal of people signing up, or do they but we don't notice who new members are? Why don't we have an introductory thread so we can see who's joining...?

I'm round and about today, been a busy week. I'm heavily involved in planning and delivering Global Entrepreneurship Week activities in Hull, hence not been around much and won't be around much until after November 19th This is on my to-do list!

Anyone can create a new members thread (or am I missing the point, was there something more specific?) As for the guests, most of the visits are people being directed onto the site from Google after searching for Karoo related stuff, and many are from people/bots clicking through from Twitter. I'll put some stats up in another post if anyone is interested in who visits the site.

We was thinking either an official 'introduction' thread, I was going to decide where would be best for it OR perhaps a new members area, but that said we don't want the forum to become an overcrowded mess.

No we don't rich your correct there... Anyone can create a new members thread (or am I missing the point, was there something more specific?) The original discussion I had with richard was if someone actually goes through the formality of joining up (not just visiting) then at the end they are directed to an ''Introduce Yourself" thread...not compulsory of course but I'm sure most would just put a few words in there. Has to be better than just jumping in the middle of a ongoing discussion.. It's only a suggestion though if you don't like the idea then forget it, no big deal lads..

I think it's a good idea to be honest. Unfortunately there's nothing in the forum software as standard that lets you do that so we'll have to either add a mod or edit the code to put it in. Shouldn't be too much of a PITA to do though so I'll take a look at it.

ive also noticed that you get around 50 guests accounts a day that just read and run,
you shouldnt be able to read if your not logged in, we are a community not just a read and run for people who cant really be arsed to register and get involed

To be fair I was a guest for months before I signed up and began posting... I say keep it open and public, guests and all :-)

I agree with dunny in a way butt we introduced it on our gaming forum and now we just get people joining up reading what they need and rarely come back, so you end up with loads of dead accounts..so there's no point really...
