We will once we can either afford NextGen or Airnet have service in North Bransholme.
Airnet is my preferred choice enabling us to get rid of KC and Karoo and still save about £12 per month while doubling our max download speed and increasing our upload speed by 2000%.

Engineer visiting tomorrow to try and resolve the constant disconnects, they checked the exchange yesterday and found no faults.
Fault therefore between house, in main socket or equipment, which we've tested by using alternative and still the same.
Yesterday we had over 30 disconnects and ip changed range as well changing ip addresses each time.
This is an issue because my wife is an op an irc server and cannot do that because of constant changes in IP range.

Now on fixed IP so that issue shouldn't be an issue anymore.

Had a similar issue about 3 months ago - eventually they replaced the cabling inside the house, replaced the box & the cabling to the telegraph pole.

All working spot on, until that blip I mentioned in the thread a week ago - been solid again now.

Engineer visited today and diagnosed fault as cabling between our house and exchange and fitted a tester in socket while he went away to locate the fault.
Fault located was a cable hanging loose in the underground manhole causing loss of connection, amazing we had any phone or internet at all.
So far not had any DC's and long may that stay.

Have to say happy with engineer not blaming our router or telephone like I was expecting.

Actually the engineers aren't bad. They usually say it as they find it. It's the people on the other end of the phone line who blame everything on the customer. It's like they read it from a prompt card.  I sometimes wonder if the also wear earphones with a tape playing telling them to breathe in, breathe out  Grin

I get disconnected at least once a day, the last time I phoned karoo they said it was nothing to worry about as it was once a day, I did try to push it to get a engineer to visit but was told it'll probably cost me, so i had to leave it due to lack of cash.

Was funny convo though as he asked me to test the main socket but it wasnt showing that I'd diconnected on their end(even though nothing was connected at the time)

OK problem not solved so either multiple breaks in the line or he didn't fix it. I will be on the phone to KC tomorrow to get it fixed even if they have to rewire is the 2 miles to the Bransholme exchange to fix the problem.
We pay for our telephone and ADSL service and expect both to work 100% not some of the time.

@gazfc Trading standards would differ you pay for a service to work 100% of the time if it fails to do so you are entitled to refuse payment for that service that is the law and not a guideline. If you pay for a service or item and do not receive 100% satisfaction the law says that you are entitled to a refund of what you have paid.

I am sick to death of the service that we have received so far lately and will tell them so tomorrow when we call up yet again.
Fix it or f**k off as they say but no I can't because I don't have an alternative to use at present.

Spoken to Airnet and don't cover us yet, KC engineer now booked for Thursday (Visit 2) and speed lowered to 2mb/sec to make line more stable.
£35 for 2mb/sec getting close to prices that we paid when KC introduced 512k/sec broadband in 2001 is that their next option that we pay £35 for that (£50 in 2001) so sick to death of it all.

They now suspect the socket instead of engineer replacing socket anyway while he was here.

KC sure know how to piss off their customers and wonder why we hate them so much Sad

Just been and bought a Linksys WAG120N modem/router to replace the old kit spoke to Karoo again tried raising the line back to 5mb failed so at 4mb until engineer comes out. We have some serious issues with our phone line if it accepted 5mb before and won't now.

Airnet hurry up and get that bloody mast up on the estate so we can ditch KC and Karoo for good until then the new router should be great when we get a stable phone line in the house Smiley
