I recived my final bill form KC today for a total of £146  Shocked I rang them to contested it and they said I entered into a new 12 month contract in Feb 2010 when I changed to one of the new tariff's. I explained to them that the only reason I changed to one of the new packages is that I was told I would not have to enter into a new contract.

They eventually agreed with me and said when I had changed the person who activated my account had not changed the "12 months" to "1 month"  on the system.

I wonder how many other people who changed are in the same position?

That's a fairly large cock up...

I take it you mean from one of the old tariffs to the new ones?

Would ADSL2+ give you much speed increase?
Is the current service throttling causing you problems?
Do you download a lot? (check your usage)
Can you save money?

You have also got to ask yourself "Do you have to stay with KC?"

i am on max option 2

adsl 2 would only give me about a meg increase
i say average about 120gig a month
90% is done before 6pm
so if i stayed with karoo i would h ave to go to pro 2
touch would not ad to many problems lately

Got another bill from KC £12.48, bit different to the £146 they tried to get me to pay.

Its official, I am no longer a customer of KC!  Grin

@hullnet

All in all then are you happy with the transition from Karoo to Airnets service?

Very much so! The service from Airnet is great for what I use it for. Gaming on my PS3, renting online HD films, watching BBC iplayer and using two laptops and on top of that saving £15 a month.

The reason i ask is simple.. I have been waiting for nextgenus and have held off signing an Airnet contract for a month now.. I was given the impression i would be connected and up and running a month after NextGen originally fitted the equipment to my house, But having sent numerous emails asking if this 1 month waiting period still stood, I havent heard a thing back..

So i guess i'm in two minds now, I need a better service then Karoo are offering me right now, And although admittedly Airnet dont offer an as fast as Nextgen connection, They do appear to be pretty confident of offering me a minimum connection of 10mb/10mb based on me being within signal of 4 of their transmitters..

It would be interesting to see if Airnet would have the same issues with the Springbank cemetry tree's as NextGen had.. I have asked this question and they dont see it being a problem.

I originally tried with Onepoint, but they said they needed line of site to a transmitter and because of the trees were not able to help, Airnet were a little different, they actually put the transmitter up and checked the connection to two points, then fixed it to the one that gave the best signal which is the University. The signal seems to travel though the trees without a problem (I dont suffer with disconnects), that maybe due to how close I am to the transmitter.

Email reply from Airnet

Hi,

The lowest connection rate on our network has been around 8Mbps down and 6Mbps up, usually most of our connections are around 10Mbps up and down, with low contention ratios, these services are much faster than adsl, and in some cases you may receive a faster connection.

We have 4 transmitters in range of your location, so getting our standard 10Mbps connection should not be a problem.

I'm guessing they wouldnt be able to use any transmitter they have from Hull royal way because they would have the same issues with the tree's.. So if they tried the Hull uni one its a bit of a distance from me, But apparently as you can see from that email, I'm within 4 of the transmitters broadcast locations..

I do have a niggling suspision that if Nextgen has put their equipment on a self standing pole instead of using my tiny tv aerial, It WOULD have helped.. Especially if they had raised it on a 6foot pole for example..

Shame they didnt really try..

Not sure if NextGenUs where in a hurry or something but they didnt attempt to adjust anything, They pondered over the idea but decided it wasnt worth it because the signal was far too weak.. But i'm pretty certain you stick that thing on a 6ft self standing pole and it would have helped alot. As i say my tv Aerial is only small so it wouldnt have been the best placing it on there.
