I find it amusing that this topic is called Karoo praise but there seems to be only a few individuals actually satisfied with the service provided by KC.  However I guess we can give our ISP some credit, it’s always nice to see someone actually receive the speeds advertised. Even if that means the other majority of KC customers don’t even reach 1MB during of peak hours.

Always good to praise KC for little things lol

Personally I find the fact that the original poster has got brilliant speeds and is really pleased somewhat amusing because he lives in an area where he can also choose BT!

I am sorry to go off topic once again but it’s still not impressive to provide high speed Internet access to only a minority of people. I will only give praise to Kingston Communication once everyone has a respectable Internet connection, which will only accrue once pigs fly I guess....oh wait.  Grin

I will try and behave from now on (fingers tied behind my back) I PROMISE lol.

Never going happen mate. Being realistic about this, there is ALWAYS going to be someone who uses a 30 ft extension cable, has at least one unfiltered phone, has had Sky fitted recently before or without a filter, who is in excess of 5km away from exchange, who has a faulty line, faulty socket, on an old 0.5mbps service, on a heavily shaped max package or a poor quality copper line into their house.

That's the nature of the beast.

There are people who have posted on here about poor speeds only to find it is usually something that can easily be sorted. Opinions (in most cases) should be reserved until adsl is tried in the test socket (known as NTE) and on a more recent broadband package.

Sorry to bore you but quick story..... I once had a neighbour who complained about poor speeds and even quoted my connection speed to Karoo customer services as a way of saying 'they get it why can't I!!'. Now I know a bit about internet and adsl and I told my neighbour to try without the extension cable. She had been told by other expert housewives and car mechanics that it is **** and they have the same problem. After registering her complaint, an engineer came round to her premises, tested adsl without the extension cable and found 15mbps as opposed to 3mbps. Why the engineer never charged her I don't know. Needless to say, she got naff all help from me from that point onwards and even had the audacity to suggest to a neighbour further up that Karoo found a fault on her line, which I guess was technically correct.

Some people have genuine complaints, most don't.

I totally agree with you, people are to quick to blame Karoo (even though they aren't very good).

Bt are only good when living close the exchange, which is usually in the town centre, plus Bt's network is massivly congested, llu providers are here aswell, but most are so poor its unreal. Plus alot of bt copper wires are so old, they only produce very low speeds.

The difference with bt is they are rolling out fftc and ffth, will follow shortly. I used idnet at my last home was 2km from the exchange and got 6.5meg all the time, due to there no throttling or port blocking. But its shown within there prices are so much higher that the likes of sky talktalk.

Theres no such thing as free broadband!!!!

Check other forums, ie skyuser, talktalk forums there are so many people complaining about there services and when you go onto llu its very very difficult to get back off it again.

If the majority of customer only get 1 meg during peak times, then i should be no different? mine should slow aswell. Peak times has nothing to with distance from exchange speeds,

Oh I wasn't bored at all reading your post bashdabish, and I honestly agree with your response. Because if you hadn't noticed pigs cannot fly except for those in Dylan’s farm. But on another note I do kind of find it impressive that Karoo are managing these kinds of speed whilst running on 0.3mm lines opposed to the standard 0.5mm that BT use.

Adamr8965 I simply cannot believe you don't get effected during peak hours whilst Kingston Communication are experimenting with traffic shaping.  Undecided

Mickey look at the speed test results on page 1 on the thread clearly shows that at 6.39pm gmt download speed of over 17 meg.

I also wonder if the speeds dont attract throttling at all due the fact karoo are pushing there broadband and landline packages in driffield area.

When i placed my order they were offering free connection normally £115, if you took broadband and landline at the same time. and its called talk n surf. Price is £20 per month for kc talk 2 and karoo mid 1.

I must admit when i first spoke to sales about combined packages they were quite shirty, and she said "you can only get karoo there is nothing else" When i pointed out the fact i lived in driffield with a bt exchange and llu providers, they attitude changed almost straight away. In fact they couldnt of been more helpful.

I suspect most of you guys in the hull and beverley areas dont get combined package deals.

If we do they've hidden it very well, currently paying £19.99 for Max Option 2 and £14.00 for KC Talk2.

I was told by karoo, there was no such deals for hull customers at the moment, but they may look into it. As for people in other areas i know two of my neighbours have similar package deals.
