A little praise for the karoo team, broadband went live on friday 16 july, they dug the road up installed the cable. Couldnt at first get on the net did autosetup on the router, then it gave me stats of around

Downstream upstream
8198            1026

Rung up support, and they put me a 6db snr sync was around 18500 down, left it for 12 hrs rung them back asked if anymore could be squeezed from the line, they put it on a 3db snr. With stats of

ADSL Link     Downstream     Upstream
Connection Speed    20479 kbps    1023 kbps
Line Attenuation    25.0 db    11.5 db
Noise Margin    3.6 db    12.5 db

So im a happy customer so far.

Well done guys.

Be careful with that snr margin. Some routers are not great with low snr. If starts disconnecting consider going back to 6db profile or lowering syc speed a little.

One word for you... Git!

Karoo managed to squeeze 4mb out of my connection, and it's been stable since but that's as fast as it gets and ADSL2+ only saw an increase of 0.5mb...

I guess that's because of your line length?

Aye, nothing more Karoo can do - to give them their dues they did a great job squeezing every last bit out of my connection whilst keeping it stable, and the engineer who fixed my line fault and the tech guy who I spoke to both did sterling jobs.

Yes i have the choice of bt or karoo, we also have talktalk on llu at the driffield exchange, but would urge anyone to stay away from them. Also get sky and 02 llu very soon. So with karoo for the next year, if they go rapidly downhill (hope it doesnt) i will move back across to and llu provider.

Does driffield always have higher speeds with karoo, compare to hull and beverley?

Most houses in Driffield are close to an exchange and have relatively short cable length from exchange to house. Compare that to some parts of Hull, Beverley etc who are at the end of some long line lengths.

I karoo used green street side cabinets? if so mines about 500yrds away.
Do karoo use fibre from the network centre to the street cabinets, if so would explain the very high speeds
